SharePoint Saturday Vietnam: another success!
The second SharePoint Saturday (SPS) Vietnam was held in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday 21st May. Like the first SPS Vietnam event in January, it was a resounding success. Again organised by Officience, the event brought together Microsoft SharePoint practitioners – developers, architects, managers – to discuss their favourite subject for the second time.
2nd SharePoint Saturday Vietnam
This second edition of SPS Vietnam brought together 100 SharePointers who participated in four sessions over the course of the day:
– How to get formatted data from SharePoint which belongs to the regional setting?
– SharePoint Branding Projects
– Designing service applications in SharePoint Server 2010
– Introduction to Windows PowerShell in SharePoint 2010
In terms of news, two other sponsors joined Officience: Bamboo Solutions and KMS Technologies. Participants were able to share their experiences, discover new functionalities, exchange tips and tricks and, of course, expand their networks.

The SharePoint Community
This Microsoft product has a very large community around the world. There are many sites, blogs and forums led by developers, architects, managers or just fans, and which are dedicated to discussing SharePoint and where users can share information on the latest product functionalities and developments.
In Vietnam the SharePoint community is booming. The two first blogs on this collaborative tool began in 2010: http://www.sharepointvn.net/ and http://sharepointvietnam.net/. The First SharePoint Saturday Vietnam, organised by Officience in Ho Chi Minh City in January 2011, was also a success.
Businesses’ growing interest in collaborative tools and the development of a real community within Vietnam proves once again that this country is not to be outdone when it comes to information technology.
For info: SharePoint is a tool developed by Microsoft which enables the creation of collaborative webpages on the Internet or for a company’s Intranet. This web platform has many functionalities such as content management or the ability to work on documents as a group. It allows both small and large companies to improve data management. The first version of SharePoint is now 10 years old; the most recent version – SharePoint 2010 – was released last year.
