The first ever ‘Green Day’
A few weeks ago in our offices in Ho Chi Minh City, the first ever Green Day took place, organised by our Green Team. The event aimed to promote topics of key importance to us: the environment and sustainable development. Almost 70 people took part on the day – Officience staff (Offies) and others.
Awareness raising workshops and activities
For everyone who joined us for this inaugural event, it was a valuable opportunity to learn more about sustainable development and the environment. Our Green Team prepared workshops on several topics and gave everyone the chance to join in and exchange ideas. The programme included a workshop on making objects from recycled materials, a photography exhibition with the theme “Water, the source of life”, a presentation of a software simulation of a hotel’s carbon footprint by the ENERTEAM association, a Green Quiz and a screening of the film Home, by Yann Arthus Bertrand.
Two partner associations take part
Two local partners kindly joined us on this day to share their experiences: ENERTEAM and HCMC Waste Recycling Fund. The former presented their 2010 Carbon Report and their recommendations for reducing its impact on the environment and controlling emissions. Our second partner discussed the different activities organised for their own Green Day, the HCMC Waste Recycling Day, as well as plans to reduce the use of plastic bags by 2015 in Ho Chi Minh City.
We are very happy with the interest that this first Green Day generated and we’re not planning on stopping what we’ve started. We hope to pursue our ‘Green’ policy so that all Offies and our partners have an awareness of the environment and sustainable development. We plan to integrate ‘Greenness’ into all our processes, implement environmental projects that will target our Carbon Report and involve our clients in all of our activities. Lastly, our well-loved Green Team will
continue to raise even more awareness among our staff about going Green.
We were thrilled with this first event which also boasted clear skies, a good barbecue and a very convivial atmosphere. We would like to say a big thank you to the Green Team, our Offies, our two partners and all the participants who contributed to the success of this Green Day. Here’s to the next one!
